The CEDS Ontology goes further than the Domain Entity Schema by organizing those properties into meaningful Classes — structured representations of real-world education entities like Person, Organizations, Courses, and Assessments. This connected, semantic structure moves beyond a flat list of definitions, enabling systems to understand not just what data means, but how it relates to everything else in the education ecosystem.

The CEDS Data Warehouse Parquet (DW Parquet) standard is designed for data engineering and data science needs in the cloud. The DW Parquet Models mirror the SQL-based CEDS Data Warehouse. Parquet files are designed for rapid and distributed reporting across multiple technology stacks, data processing and BI tools, and are cloud vendor agnostic. The OSC is a P20-W education data community that exists to provide collaborative development between CEDS stakeholders to expand and improve CEDS through adding and updating CEDS Properties, the CEDS Integrated Data Store and the CEDS Data Warehouse and to contribute exchangeable code to the CEDS Open Source Repository for stakeholder use.

The CEDS IDS files reside on the CEDS Open Source Community (OSC) site on GitHub. Previous version scripts were modified to reflect this change. "NDS" changed to "IDS" with IDS versioning appended to the end of the database names, e.g., [CEDS-NDS-V7] became [CEDS-IDS-V7_0_0_0].
